What is the referral process?
Referrals are the official request by Dr. Dang to have another doctor or medical practitioner see you for a specific concern. We will fax your clinical note, insurance information, and relevant lab and imaging to the office of the specialist, twice, by the end of the working day. At that point, the specialist’s office will process the referral and get back to you to schedule the appointment.
How long does a referral take?
Even though we send out referrals within a day of your visit, it might take a few days for the specialist’s office to process the referral. Time varies but usually expect a call from the specialist’s office by the end of the week.
When can I make an appointment with the specialist? How do I know that the referral has been sent?
If you do not hear from the specialist’s office within a week, feel free to reach out to them directly.
I called to make an appointment with the specialist, but they said they didn’t receive anything.
The most common cause is due to the fax being lost. Please call us and we will resend it.
Can Dr. Dang’s office make an appointment on my behalf?
Typically no. Only when the situation is very urgent would the office make an urgent call and appointment.
